Nagsimula ang lahat sa isang pustahan na ang dahilan ay ang kagustuhan ni Xibalba (Ron Perlman), ang kasalukuyang namumuno sa Land of the Forgotten na tahanan ng mga espiritung wala nang nakaka-alala sa mundo ng mga buhay, na makuha ang Land of the Remembered na pinamumunuan naman ni La Muerte (Kate del Castillo) - ito naman ay ang lugar para sa mga espiritung hindi pa nakakalimutan ng mga mortal.

Kapag si La Muerte ang nagwagi ay ipapangako ni Xibalba na hindi na siya makiki-alam sa mga mortal at kapag si Xibalba naman ang nanalo ay siya na ang mamumuno sa Land of the Remembered.
